2009-10
As a full-time Professor, my teaching centers on teaching students majoring in piano at the undergraduate and master’s levels. Over many years teaching, I have also enjoyed teaching pre-college students and adults, and have found I love working with students of all ages and backgrounds.
For many years I have specialized in advanced students of all ages, performing repertoire by Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Haydn, Chopin, Liszt, Rachmaninoff, Brahms, Schumann and by many 20th and 21st century composers. I have especially enjoyed teaching concerto literature and have had students perform movements from such works as the Rachmaninoff 1st and 2nd concertos, Liszt Eb, Muczynski, MacDowell d minor, and selected Beethoven, Prokofiev and Mozart concerti with orchestras in the region, including The Alabama Symphony, Tuscaloosa, Montgomery, Shoals (Florence, AL), La Grange (GA), Columbus (GA), Brevard orchestras and the Samford University Orchestra.
I strongly believe in the abilities of my students and in what I believe is a caring manner, I warmly but persistently move them to fulfill their inborn potentials.

The surrounding recent photos are from the 2009 Samford Senior Piano Camp. Shinn is accompanying student Ji Na Kim performing Mozart Concerto K. 466 in topmost picture. On top right are Shinn students who attended the camp (Hyejin, Ji Na, Becca & Do Il) and below are some other students who attended. The photo directly above shows the students, faculty and staff.
